Shounak Mukherjee
Business Manager, Mindset Coach
Hi! This is Shounak and I am the Business Manager of True You Psychiatry & Wellness and also the husband of Dr. Jennifer Giordano.
Apart from managing the day-to-day affairs of the business, I help people have a calm mind so that one can think, feel, and act in a steady way. Formerly a full-time yoga and meditation teacher in cities across India, I am now a Mindset-Meditation Coach. The goal is to help individuals find the root of one’s suffering in this life, so that one can experience peace, harmony, love and happiness.
Growing up in a busy city of Kolkata, India, I was always captivated by the mystery and grandeur of the cosmos. From a young age, I found solace in the quiet moments of stargazing, and contemplating our place amid the immense expanse of empty space. This sense of stillness and wonder inspired my pursuit of knowledge and self-discovery, leading me to live in an Ashram (Centre for Yoga & Spirituality), where I learned the practices and techniques of ancient teachings in yoga and meditation, specifically Hatha Yoga and Kriya Yoga. I traveled, conducted classes and organized spiritual and social programs across India. Through this entire process, I gained a deeper understanding of my own desires, fears, and suffering .
One day my life changed. I suddenly got chicken-pox. This sudden isolation and sickness made me recognize my powerlessness. Even after putting so much effort to straighten out my life, I still was essentially powerless. I became open and vulnerable for the first time.
The teachings of Advaita captivated me. I stepped-out of the ashram deciding not to live a secluded life with a secluded goal anymore. There were months of confusion and flip-flop between happiness and utter misery. Then by the grace of my teacher, I was directly pointed to the peace and happiness I had always been seeking.
Slowly over a period of time I started sharing this understanding through writings and individual sessions with people who are interested in this subject. I am now settled in Michigan, USA with my wife Dr. Giordano.
